Saw the following bit of wisdom in some random place on the web:
"Women who desire a future should stay away of men with a past"
If I had a daughter I would have made the best effort to emphasize on that from a young age moving forward. Relationships are hard enough by themselves to allow the impositions of potentionally intrusive "ghosts" from a past to jeopardize the best efforts.
As I have a son, my advice to him has been to the tone of:
"Stay away from a woman that has no desire for a future"
Because without such drive a woman becomes content with the present, complacent with the sure things she has at hand. There will be no growth path in a relationship, and that is the proverbial kiss of death for an otherwise successful plan of life.
