Merry Christmas

I think the controversy goes because so much has been overlooked on the origins of the traditions we usually take as “one” today. Case in point Christmas, the alleged birth date of Jesus Christ all those hundreds of years ago, a celebration that has seen Christmas Trees, kissing under the Mistletoe, the Yuletide and others squished into one, so confused the jumble that all those symbols, PAGAN symbols are taken as part of the Christian Nativity tradition.

To help clear things out – a win if even only a single mind is shaken out of the indoctrinated stupor – I took the liberty from stealing the following content to further illustrate:

You don’t need to believe in Yule, the Scandinavian fertility god, to enjoy “Yuletide” carols and greetings.

You don’t need to be Pagan to enjoy the traditions of hanging wreaths in your home.

You don’t need to be a Druid to hope for a kiss under the mistletoe.

You don’t need to believe in the god Saturn, or believe in the revitalizing energies of evergreen trees, to enjoy the tradition of decorating a Saturnalia tree in your home.

You don’t need to believe in Odin, Thor or Saint Nicholas to enjoy the tradition of a visitor bringing gifts at night.

You don’t need to believe in Sleipnir, Odin’s eight-legged horse, to secretly hope to hear the clattering of hooves on your rooftop.

You don’t need to believe in Mithras to celebrate the Sun’s rebirth on December 25th.

And you don’t need to believe in Jesus Christ to celebrate His birth, Christ’s Mass.

All you need to enjoy the winter festivities, in any way you see them, is to be merry.

Merry Christmas!
