National Threat Level Purple

What a wonder and colorful week we had. Mr. Michael Chertoff's gut feelings threw a screwball to the media - hence the population - when he came about on his conference address on Thursday July 12, commenting that Al Qaeda's was running now at full strength, whatever that may mean. I heard the broadcast on the radio and the only words that could describe my thinking at the moment were "what an irresponsibly silly little man". How many times have we heard the same cry-wolf story since 9/11? are we expected to believe that the information and security agencies are prepared to prevent another 9/11?.

We had all the bureaucracy that we needed before 9/11, and it failed miserably at doing its job. Yet, more bureaucracy was quickly implemented by the worst administration ever on this country, by mashing almost all under a new name: Department of Homeland Security. Oh, and we now have a colorful way to reminds us of the paranoia level we should be living at, otherwise called the Homeland Security Advisory System. What a joke. And a pathetic one at that.

The plot to blow up JFK in New York, the plot on Fort Dix in New Jersey, the failed bomb attempt in the UK, and so many more are pushed into radio and TV and print as BIG success's for our Men in Black. Once the smoke clears anyone with half a point of intelligence can establish that those uncovered and failed plots are the product of mere amateurs... why, the Glasgow airport terrorists had problems with their gear, the likes of which you only see in any of the memorable Three Stooges movies. Yet, England was bumped up to critical alert conditions and our guardians in the US responded in a similar manner... police man, dogs, guys with rifles.

Brian May (yes, the guitarrist virtuoso of Queen fame) once wrote that he does not suscribe to the War on Terrorism. Neither do I. Our leaders have been pushing to criminal levels the intent on fighting terrorism by going at the consecuences without caring much for the situations that CAUSE terrorism, the origins of it, the why it exists. The continued stay of US and coalition forces in Irak is doing nothing but pushing more militants into the terrorism organizations ranks. How hard can this be to appreciate by Bush and his administration? Blair is out but he still shares a big responsibility on his actions, and Gordon Brown will have things to respond to if he doesn't take action and does what needs to be done, and that is get out of Irak.

All this nonsense while soldiers and civilians continue to die in a most meaningless war.

Instead of closing this post with such a sad note, I think it is better to take a stab at the Department of Homeland Security doings. After all these years hearing of impending attacks and the pickup of chatter on the terrorists networks (they must be using the public phone system or something and yet can't be traced and caught), it'd be nice to see these Men in Black wannabes come about and let us know about their most wanted terrorists. Ladies and Gentleman, I give you... Craig Fenson:
